Summer Series 2013: Part 5 - Make Your Paths Straight

When God acts there is no one who can reverse His movement in our lives!  When God speaks...it happens!

Moses:  “But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?’  He said, ‘But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.’  Exodus 3:11-12

We know the end result!  We hear about it throughout Scripture!  Whether it be the Old or New Testament, we see a thread woven throughout history of God reminding the people…”HEY YOU!  Remember that thing I did in Egypt and the whole wondering around the dessert?  Don’t forget!  I am the same God!”

In Deuteronomy, Moses reminds the people of God’s faithfulness the last forty years before he is buried by God.  Joshua, is told to be strong and courageous and to be careful to obey the law.  He gives the same warning to the people at the end of his life.  Gideon is told to remember what God did in Egypt.  Jeremiah mentions the covenant made to the Hebrews when coming out of Egypt.  In the New Testament Stephen mentions God’s faithfulness to his fellow countrymen by reminding them of their history and coming out of Egypt prior to his stoning.  The list can go on!  Yet the lesson for us today is this………..

The God who spoke to Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Samuel, David, Solomon, Isaiah, and Jeremiah is the same God today!  He has not changed!  My friends, when we come to the place of trust in the God who throughout history has a track record of keeping His word, we will see the blessings of his promises reflected through us to others!  God will make the paths straight for everyone to see and acknowledge HIM!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Remember these words were not written by God, they were written by man who had reflected on his people’s history!  Solomon wrote it with the intention for man to read and remember what God had done for them.  The promise has not changed for use today.  The words still ring with a fresh challenge for us in our culture.

Who do we trust in our world today?

A culture that says “trust in man’s knowledge for strength” or the words of an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God who says, “I AM.”  As for me and my house, we will trust the Lord my God who throughout history (even though I may not understand and have all the answers), has been always on time and faithful in my life!!!  Now go and make a difference!

His call.  His gift to you.  Your purpose.  Irrevocable.
