Summer Series Face to Face with God Week 1: The Beginning

Everyone has a beginning. No matter ones history, there is always a start. For Moses, that beginning came in a household who were slaves to the Egyptian nation. As the slave population grew, a decree was declared by the Pharaoh: "Every boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.". For three months (2:2) Moses mother hid him until it was to risky to hide him any longer. Then she did the most incredible and brave thing. She trusted God! Built a small floating device. Placed it into the Nile, and said good-bye, not knowing where the child would end up. Yet she trusted God. This was Moses "beginning". Now imagine yourself being adopted into the royal family. You had heard the story of how your mother found you. Every opportunity that your mother had she would remind you of that beautiful day when she pulled you out of the Nile. You were a gift from the gods, and because of that, you were very special in her eyes! Growing up you

A Father's Legacy

You teach what you know and reproduce who you are. -Dr. Jim Reeve I still remember the day each of the girls were born. The first time I saw them. Held them. Eyes met. The first diaper change. I remember the moment when I realized that this precious gift was mine, and I was officially a daddy. Memories of our walks at the park and carrying them to bed for the last time because they were now getting older and a little heavier! Times of my little precious ones running to the door to greet me (which they still do, without the running though). Family vacations. First "Daddy and Teen Daughters Road Trip" . Oh the memories. It is days like these that makes me realize how time flies! Yet there is a challenge for us father's today. We fight a culture where fathers are looked at as clumsy, out of touch, bumbling idiots who are absent in the lives of our children. Yet there is such a great responsibility that we have as fathers. A little history tells us about the origin of Father

Irrevocable Call Encouraging Word: 2hrs 10min Lesson

Last October I ran my first 1/2 marathon in San Jose! 13 miles in 2hrs 10min 0sec. My best time! I share this with you not to brag or say "Look what I can do!", but to share a life lesson. This goal began four months prior to the race. In that time I hit the gym and ran 263 miles. I checked it out on a map, just to see the distance and I was blown away. I had run from Salida to Pyramid Lake off of highway 5 on the Grapevine going to LA. 90 hrs of running. Some may ask "Why are you doing this?" Well there are three reasons. One, to prove to myself that I could do it! Second, I never want to be on my death bed and wonder.."What if____?" And third was to be an example to my girls that anything is possible! While running, I kept on thinking about this journey and what it had taught me. I had learned that each step I took was a new record. While training, I remember when I hit the first step after five miles...that step...that one step...that one move forward w

Connected

Every year about this time former students make their way back to my class room to say hi and catch up. Graduation announcements from universities and wedding invitations come in the mail all announcing this life changing event! I remember one summer there was a knock on the front door of our home. Angie answered the door and said there is a former student who wants to say hi. It was Vince. Vince apologized for the intrusion but was in the area and had to stop by to say hello. He had just finished college and was on his way to the east coast to the military, where he was going to become a pilot. As we visited in the back yard I was taken back to the time this young man shared his dream with me. I was sitting at my desk and Vince (he was sixteen years old) was across from me. As we talked about life and future goals he shared with me his dream to be a pilot in the US Navy. From then on Vince would always say, "Mr. Limon one day I am going to fly!" My response was always the
