Spring Series: Leaders, Stand in MY Council to Receive Your Healing

Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he? - Isaiah 2:22 It was 9am and the familiar trumpet sounded from the Temple in Jerusalem, proclaiming that the morning sacrifice was about ready to commence. A sacrificial lamb was brought to the altar and sacrificed for the sins of the people. The priest would take the blood of the sacrifice and sprinkle it on the altar in the Holy of Holies, where only the priest was allowed to enter. The same was done at 3pm. When the trumpet sounded people must have stopped what they were doing and focused on a prayer for that moment. It was a time of reflection and a reminder of God’s holiness and forgiving power. Yet this day was different. Thousands of people were in Jerusalem for the Passover. The streets were filled with people from all over the region. The trumpet blows for the morning sacrifice. At the same time, outside the walls of Jerusalem , Christ was being nailed to the cross (we are told this in Mark 15:2

Spring Series: Leaders: Stand in MY Council to Recieve Your Word

For who among them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and to hear his word, or who has paid attention to his word and listened? Jeremiah 23:18 The leaders of Jeremiah's time were speaking words that were meant to bring a calmness to the people, yet danger was around the corner. God's challenge to the leaders was very simple and applicable today. Two things stand out in this passage: 1. "to see and hear his word". I cannot remember what grade I was in, but it was in elementary school. I was very disruptive in class and was sent to the principle's office. I remember being led into his office by the Secretary and being told to sit down and wait for Mr. Franklin. The silence of his office already made me feel uncomfortable. Yet when he walked in and said, "Mr. Limon." I sank in my chair. After a little talk he ended the conversation with opening his drawer and pulling out a paddle. He said a few more encouraging words with the paddle in my

Spring Series Introduction: Stand in My Council

I have been reading through the book of Jeremiah these past few weeks. It's not a book with lots of nice, touchy feeling words. The book itself is one of coming judgement on the southern Jewish nation, Judah. A matter of fact Jeremiah is known as "the Weeping Prophet" for his words of lamentations. As a teenager I read through this book and I immediately feel in love with Jeremiah. Here was a young man (late teens to early twenties) who was called by God to share a message of judgment to a nation, yet at the same time spoke of God's redemption power, if the people would turn from their sinful ways (worshiping idols/gods, human sacrifices). He was bold, courageous, yet filled with compassion and determination to share what God had laid on his heart! As a young man getting ready to go to college and embark a career in the ministry, the opening of the book screamed to me... The Lord spoke his word to me, saying: "Before I made you in your mother's womb, I chose

Characters of a Leader: Never Quit Attitude

You can't fail until you quit -Russel Simmons It's that time of the year! For me it's working with with seniors who have checked out! Students who can sense summer is around the corner and in sight! I must admit, this time of the year is hard for teachers too. We also sense summer around the corner. For nine months we have prepared and poured ourselves out to our students. A fresh of breath air is just on the horizon! As an owner of a business you have just entered the last quarter! Now is the time to not quit! This is always hard to do. We are tired. Numbers are off or numbers are right on! The tendency to cruise through this stage is a temptation that always falls short! Whether it be a leader in the Bible or in life there is always one characteristic that fans the flame of success....the never quit attitude . I believe there are three areas that feed this attitude. 1. The Call The Call is the belief that there is something greater than self. The belief that God has place
