Business Through the Eyes of Solomon: Work Your Plan

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3

Passage to be read: Proverbs 24:30-34

It is said that the average life expectancy of a human being is 77 years. Lord willing, that's 28,105 days of life. Today marks the 15,330 days of life for me. 367,920 hours of breathing. 22,204,800 minutes of walking, eating, sleeping, working, vacation, being a husband and daddy. Life! God's greatest gift to us all! It just seems like yesterday, when I was sitting under the camper shell with a neighborhood friend at 5 years of age enjoying a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Roaming around with friends during my teenage years. Attending college and meeting the love of my life. Wedding day. Birth of my daughters. My first job out of college. Ups and downs of life. How time flies! That's why it is so important to live our lives in such away that will impact those that are around us. In the time allotted for us, we need to make it count! Whether it be our children or the Consultants on our team, God has given us an opportunity to work our business so that others will see God in us. Yes, the money and the gifts can be gratifying, yet it is the opportunity to pour yourself into another life. It is an opportunity to use your wealth to be a blessing to others. I have heard so many times of women who quit Mary Kay because they feel they want to be more involved in church ministry. Or the involvement in ministry is used as an excuse to not step into the Mary Kay world. God has given you an opportunity through Mary Kay to not only meet financial goals, but to be used by Him, for his glory. This is your ministry! It was through wealth that the tomb of Christ was bought, and used as a symbol of our Savior's resurrection (Matt. 27:57-61). It was through wealth that the early church was able to meet financial needs (Acts 4:34-37). It was through wealth that the church had a place to meet (Acts 12:12-14). It was through the business mind of Paul (tent maker by profession) that helped support his ministry (1 Thess. 1:9). Solomon knew that when one worked their business/job, blessings came.
For the person of the vineyard, it was the King who was watching him! Can you imagine, the King writing about your vineyard? Here is a chance to be posted on King Solomon's Top Ten Vineyard List, and this landowner blows it because he wanted to "wait till tomorrow" to clean up the vineyard. The description of "the stone walls were in ruins", tells us that this vineyard had been like this for a very long time. What comes out of a vineyard? Grapes, wine, raisins, jucie, and the most important if taken care of...the root, which can be grafted and planted to create more vines to produce more product! Because the owner did not take care of what was given to him, he missed an opportunity, because he did not work his plan. Remember last week we took a look at Proverbs 15:27 that talked about plans fail with the lack of counsel, but with many advisers one will succeed. Plans only succeed when put into action and seen all the way through! If only the vineyard owner would have listened to advice from his workers. If only he would have worked his vineyard (his God given responsibility), King Solomon would have talked differently about this vineyard. Just maybe, the King would have blessed the owner by ordering cases of wine or grapes to be eaten at the palace. Can you imagine if Mary Kay Ash would have not worked her plan? Walt Disney? Henry Ford? Bill Gates? How about you? Are you working your plan? God has given you a great opportunity through Mary Kay, don't let time pass you by. Maybe your business looks like the vineyard. For to long you have dwelt on the loss of Consultants or Directors. Doubt and depression have torn down the wall of confidence. Girl, its time to pull some weeds! Work the plan! Girl, its time to reconstruct that wall! Work the plan! God is looking for vineyards to use. Vineyards that can be a blessing to this generation! Work the plan! Listen to what Solomon says to those who work the plan:

Proverbs 12:11
He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.

Proverbs 10:4
Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Proverbs 13:4
The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

What's your plan? Is it to become a National? Director? Build a strong Unit? Is it to be a financial blessing to your family or an organization? Is it to one day help build an orphanage or support missionaries in other countries? Whatever the dream, work your plan! Write it out. Tell someone who will keep you accountable (your National or Director is a good start!). Then WORK YOUR PLAN and watch what God will do! Never give up! Never submit to the voices of "You can't!". Never give in!

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

His call. His gifts. Your purpose. Irrevocable.
