Summer Series Face to Face with God Week 5: A Faithful God

In the Book of Deuteronomy we see the last month of Moses life and the events prior to the Hebrews entering the Promised Land. Even though the Book of Exodus ends with a glorious description of God's glory and the special relationship God had with his people I cannot help but to end this study with Moses in the book of Deuteronomy. As you look back at your life, you may be faced with the realization of Moses and how he must of felt standing on top of Mount Nebo (Deut. 34:1-4), viewing the promise land that he had waited to see and experience. As he stood there, knowing that he was leaving this world, I am sure there was time to recollect the memories of his life. He had lived 120 years. From the days he roamed the streets of Egypt as royalty to the tending of sheep in desert. The meeting of his wife to the reunion of his birth brother and sister. 80 years had passed from the time he had encountered the Lord at the burning bush, an event that would change his life forever! Summer Series Face to Face with God Week 4: Hey God...

When I was a kid, I remember a time when I stayed in the car while my mother went to pick up some groceries. I was about eight or nine years old at the time, and I thought I was the funniest kid around. Construction was taking place in the parking lot, as new pavement was getting ready to be poured. The workers were gone, and everything had been set in place for work the next day. I noticed an older kid playing in the construction site with his bike. Thinking I had an opportunity to have some fun, I cracked the window and yelled, in what I thought was a deep voice, "Hey! Get out of there!". Once the words flew out of my mouth I ducked out of site behind the back seat. Oh, I thought I was funny! I lifted my head so slowly to get a peek of my victim, and it happened, we meet eye to eye. The older boy

Summer Series Face to Face with God Week 3: Laying Down the Foundation

Nearly two months have passed since the Hebrews left Egypt. Now that the people were free it was time to lay down the foundation that would build a nation to trust and obey the Lord their God. As was customery of the time, a covenant was made between two parties. Example, If a person owed a debt, a covenant was made and written on two tablets of stone. The stone would include the agreement between the two parties on how that debt was going to be paid. Each party took and kept their covenant/stone. If at anytime the covenant was broken, the tablets would serve as a reminder of promises made by the two parties. In this case God had written a covenant on man's relationship with Him, and man's relationship with each other...today we know that covenant/list as the Ten Commandments. This was a covenant between God and his people. What is so unique about the covenant is that God gave his portion of the covenant to Moses to take care of! God was basically saying, "I will n
